Concentration of universities and research institutions-
Producing a number of talented people comparable to those in other major Asian countries

Fukuoka Prefecture has 34 colleges and universities and 122,000 students, ranking it 6th and 7th, respectively, in Japan. The number of science students is over 6,000, which ranks 5th in the country. A range of growth industries and research institutions – from biotechnology and space to hydrogen energy – are also concentrated in the city.
